Nicholas Snider

Weekend Meteorologist and Reporter
Nicholas Snider

Nicholas comes to Southern Idaho from his hometown of Lakewood, OH—a suburb just outside of Cleveland. He has had a passion for weather virtually his entire life dealing with all the wild weather northeast Ohio threw at him as a kid—from snowstorms to severe thunderstorms. Two events that he will always remember were the 2007 Valentine’s Day winter storm, where over a foot of snow was recorded, and a large severe rotating storm that impacted Lakewood, OH on May 7, 2010.

Nicholas received his Bachelor of Science in Meteorology with a minor in journalism from Ohio University in May of 2021. At Ohio University, Nicholas was advised by tornado scientist Dr. Jana Houser, who took him and a few of his classmates storm chasing in 2019. On this trip, he was able to see two tornadoes up close. Nicholas was also able to do a lot of weather coverage in college, covering multiple severe weather events; including June 10, 2020, where he did 10 continuous hours of wall-to-wall coverage. On this day, a derecho trekked across Ohio, causing the collapse of a local theatre.

During Nicholas’s free time, he enjoys watching sports—especially his hometown Cavaliers, Indians, and Browns, biking, hiking, golfing, and skiing. He is especially looking forward to hitting the Sun Valley slopes and exploring the hiking trails at Sawtooth National Forest.
