United Way and Jerome School District partner up to offer summer activities
JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — United Way of South Central Idaho and the Jerome School District are partnering up together to offer different activities for students this summer.
They are calling it Picnic and Play, and it’s taking place every Tuesday and Thursday at the Idaho Central Credit Union in Jerome between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
As students are picking up their lunches, they can interact with the different events.
So far they have CSI, the Jerome Historical Society, and the Jerome High School Cheerleaders.
United Way and the Jerome School District hope this will be a great addition to their summer food program.
“With COVID, we are actually able to serve them two meals at a time, so we are getting better bank for your buck, they get breakfast and lunch, two kinds of milk, a hot lunch item, a breakfast item with it, and all the sides to go with it,” said Katie Rogers, the Jerome School District Food Service Director.
“I think our goal is just to get our community involved and get our kids comfortable in our community, we have a great community we live in,” said Deloris Argyle with the United Way.
They say the Picnic and Play event has increased the number of kids coming for lunch at the ICCU park.
