Filer business overcoming national materials shortages
Behind the Business: Everton Mattress Factory
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Nestled in Filer is Everton Mattress Factory, from which mattresses are produced and shipped to seven different states.
Owner Chris Sanders has worked with Everton for 27 years. He bought the facility over seven years ago. He also owns an Everton Mattress retail store on Pole Line Road in Twin Falls. In the time since he purchased the factory, he’s seen an increase in production.
“It’s been growing,” said Sanders. “The last couple of years we’ve seen exponential growth.”
When the pandemic hit and many businesses had to halt production, Everton Mattress Factory was able to stay open, but they have been impacted regardless.
“We’ve had shortages of raw materials in all aspects from foam, wood, steel springs to the material that goes on top of the mattresses,” Sanders said.
This has occurred while demand has been as high as Sanders has ever seen it, but his team has helped things run as smoothly as possible.
“Everyone has been putting the hours in to accommodate the increases,” Sanders stated. “It’s our people that make the difference.”
While they have overcome this latest wave of challenges, Sanders does not believe the shortages will end any time soon.
“We have a storm everywhere,” Sanders said. “We have a storm with raw materials. We have a storm with labor. We have a storm with trucking, shipping....all of those challenges we face on a daily basis and they change almost daily, as well. The effects are going to long carry into next year.
