CHIEF METEOROLOGIST ERIC BRILL – EVENING UPDATE

Tuesday, March 02, 2021

Great weather will continue through the rest of the work week, with Friday likely being the warmest day that Southern Idaho has seen in 2021.

With nearby high pressure anchoring itself down for the next few days, temperatures are only going to continue to climb. Middle and upper 50s are expected for the Magic Valley and Mini-Cassia Region for Wednesday and Thursday, while the Wood River Valley will top-off in the middle to upper 40s. For Friday, there is going to be a bit of a breeze around out of the southeast that looks to propel temperatures into the lower 60s for the Magic Valley and Mini-Cassia Region! If this ends up happening, Friday could end up being the warmest day since prior to Thanksgiving! It will be nice to have that around!!

A cold front is going to swing through Southern Idaho over the weekend, and bring the temperatures (and overall fun) to a little bit of an end. Temperatures from Saturday to Sunday will likely drop 5-10°, and there could be a few showers around overnight Saturday into Sunday. At this rate/point, the best chance of showers will be in the higher elevation locations, in which there could be a little bit of a breeze around as well. The temperature drop will likely be the most significant thing to come out of that given cold front.

Early next week could potentially have a cold front that has a little bit more in the way of moisture associated with it roll through Southern Idaho. For the time being, I am not going to go with any crazy high precipitation chances, as it is about a week away, and many things can (and will!) change between now-and-then. Temperatures will likely be back into the 40s for afternoon highs in the Magic Valley and Mini-Cassia Region, while the Wood River Valley can expect upper 30s.

Enjoy the next few days of some awesome weather! While the weekend and early next week may not be quite as nice, it still won’t be bad at all around Southern Idaho!
