Last minute donations exceed 2020 goal

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — UPDATE: As of the close of the turkey drive Saturday night, 1,937 turkeys had been donated during the 2020 60 Hours to Fight Hunger turkey drive.

On Monday, organizers said last minute donations helped the drive to exceed its goal of receiving 2,020 turkeys fro Magic Valley families in need.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The 20th Annual 60 Hours to Fight Hunger is back and is asking the public to donate 2,020 turkeys for 2020.

The event kicks off at noon Thursday, Nov. 19 and runs until Saturday, Nov. 21. People can stop by one of South Central Community Action Partnership’s donation locations to drop of turkeys and other canned or dry holiday meal items to help families in need this season.

Cash and bank card donations will also be accepted and will go directly to purchasing turkeys. Donations are tax deductible. Monetary donations will also be accepted.

This year social distancing will be observed. Volunteers will be able to come up to cars to pick up turkeys, allowing for an easy drive-through drop-off process.
